Lactanet Canada is a producer-led national organisation created by a partnership of Canadian Dairy Network (CDN), CanWest DHI and Valacta, providing all components of genetic evaluation, milk recording, herd management software and solutions, applied research and innovation, advisory services, knowledge transfer and dairy cattle traceability. Lactanet is seeking an enthusiastic person to join its team of globally recognized geneticists for the continuous improvement, development and delivery of national genetic and genomic evaluation services.

KNOWLEDGE TRANSLATION AND TRANSFER (KTT) GENETICS EXPERT

This position provides the opportunity for a qualified strong communicator to work closely with the genetic services team in Lactanet’s Guelph office, as well as the knowledge transfer, marketing and communications teams in the Montreal office, to produce extension and social media material with a key focus on Lactanet’s genetics services.

Responsibilities

• Main responsibilities of the successful candidate will be the planning and preparation of extension articles related to dairy cattle genetics and other topics relevant to Lactanet products and services
• The successful candidate will be involved in responding to inquiries from Canadian producers, industry partners and international organizations
• Collaborate with the knowledge transfer, marketing and communications teams in the planning and delivery of Lactanet’s website, information resource library and social media strategy
• Presentations to industry groups for improving their understanding of current and future genetics services will also be required

Requirements

• B.Sc. degree in agriculture, or equivalent training and experience
• Proven excellence in communications, both written and public presentations
• Superior knowledge and experience with social media platforms, ideally including graphic design
• Practical knowledge of the Canadian dairy cattle improvement industry
• Leadership, self-motivator, good team worker and eager to learn
• Working knowledge of the French language is considered a significant asset
